Treatments
The repair process begins with a pre-wash, incorporating a very mild citrus degreaser before washing using a two bucket method to minimise dirt being transferred back to the vehicle using soft lambs wool wash mitts and a HP neutral shampoo. The alloy wheels and brake calipers are cleaned outside and inside (if possible) using an acid free, safe gel cleaner. The inner wheel arches are also cleaned and conditioned to produce a fresh from the factory look. Drying is achieved using soft spa grade satin edged all cotton towels.
The next stage is the gentle exfoliation of the bodywork using a fine abrasive clay bar and lubricant to remove bonded surface contaminates including tree sap, imbedded insects, tar and even overspray. This will leave the surface as smooth as glass, adding depth and clarity.
We now move on to the polishing stages using a variable speed rotary polisher and various diminishing abrasives. The utmost care is taken as modern paints are generally thin, measuring only around 120 microns; 1 micron = 1/1000th of a millimetre and a constant check is taken throughout this process on the amount being removed using a sophisticated electronic paint thickness gauge. The results produced will be bright, clear (free from holograms and light scratches) and shiny. The (optional) full paint correction process will also remove swirls, water marks and etchings.
The paintwork is now clean but somewhat sterile in appearance so a Carnauba wax is now applied to the freshly re-levelled surface to produce depth, warmth and vital paint protection against traffic film, ultraviolet light, acid rain and other polluntants. This will also make any metallic flakes standout, known as ‘popping the flake’, pearls to show their true varied colours and give the ultimate wet-look one of a kind lustre. Carnauba wax is produced by the Copernica Prunifera palm of northern Brazil to protect its leaves from the harsh tropical climate and is the worlds hardest (harder than concrete, in its natural state) and most transparent natural wax.
