A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened and on the roadster the bulkhead was moved back 4 inches to make the bonnet longer. Four wheel Dunlop 12" disc brakes appeared for the first time.

The customer had been quoted over £3000 by BMW to repaint the vehicle and replace the black plastic side moldings. Within seven hours Auto-Detail had removed the paint and restored the paintwork and mouldings to an as-new condition. We can also remove overspray from glass including patio doors, now a common problem with people spray painting their fences. Call us for more information or advice.

This 1992 Saab convertible leather interior had seen its fair share of weather conditions with the roof down, from blazing hot summers to cold winter outings.
The left hand side of the seat has been gently cleaned to remove ingrained dirt. The leather on the right has then been treated to feed and condition the leather, sparingly applied on a cloth and rubbed in, it will soak into the leather immediately, no polishing off is required, the leather will be left soft and original, without a sticky or shiny finish that would attract more dust and dirt, the leather will also smell of good old fashioned English leather.

The BMW M3 CSL (coupe sports lightweight) was a limited edition version of the M3 with only 1,400 cars being produced for its 2004 model year run and was only available in two colours, Silver Grey Metallic and Black Sapphire Metallic.
As its name suggests, an emphasis was put on reducing weight. The M3 CSL has a kerb weight of 3,050 lb, 240 lb lighter than the regular M3. The roof is constructed from carbon fiber reinforced plastic, whilst this only reduces the curb weight of the car by 15 lb, it lowers the center of gravity of the car and decreases body flex.

Bird droppings are more than just unsightly and unsanitary. 38% of motorists whose cars have been hit by bird droppings have reported permanent damage, with one in 10 of these suffering lasting dull spots on their car’s paintwork and one in 12 permanent discolouration. One in 12 has even reported acidic bird muck eating away their car’s paintwork.
Even removing bird lime can be damaging, with 13 per cent of drivers whose car has been affected having scratched their car’s paintwork when trying to remove droppings.Aside from the cost of repairing the damage it causes, bird lime can also have an impact on a car’s resale value. More than one in seven drivers whose car has been affected by droppings claim the damage has knocked off more than £200 from their motor’s selling price, with more than one in 14 claiming it devalues their car by more than £400.

Volcanic dust particles are highly abrasive and acidic, once the ash has fallen on the paintwork there exists a real danger of damage to a vehicles clearcoat. This is more so on Japanese cars were the lacquer is often softer and thinner than its German counterparts with their advanced harder ceramic lacquer finishes.
Modern lacquer finishes by leading manufacturers such as Du Pont are able to withstand acid fallout with a sulphuric acid content upto 20%. The combination of sulphur dioxide, hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid content of the volcanic ash is more far more acidic than normal airborne dust, hence aggressive acid etch. Acid etch is normally seen as etch markings in the shape of water droplets with sunken edges or edge zones, if the etchings are smaller dots or thread-like, this is usually etch from tree sap, blossom resin or pollen.
Auto-Detail have now visually inspected various car makes and models from Ferrari, Aston Martin and BMW, to the ultra soft finish of the new Nissan GTR, evalulating the damage and the possible solutions. Most damage on German cars is rectifiable with skilled machine polishing, in more extreme cases the surface lacquer may first require wet sanding to remove deeper etchings. Japanese cars are more difficult to correct and in some cases are unrepairable through detailing and will require a bodyshop respray.

AMG was founded as a racing engine forge in 1967 under the name AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, by former Mercedes engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Burgstall an der Murr, near Stuttgart. The letters "AMG" stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach, Aufrecht's birthplace (but at no time an AMG location). In 1976 most of AMG moved to Affalterbach, with the racing engine development remaining at the old location in Burgstall.
In 1990, with AMG having become a high-profile purveyor of modified Mercedes cars, Daimler-Benz AG and AMG signed a contract of cooperation, allowing AMG to leverage Daimler-Benz's extensive dealer network and leading to commonly developed vehicles ,the first one being the Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG, in 1993. On 1 January 1999 DaimlerChrysler, as it was called between 1998 and 2007 ( I call this time 'The rusty years', when Mercedes faulterd on its reputation for its quality and durability, J.D. Power surveys also demonstrated a downturn in reputation in this criteria in the late 1990s and early 2000s ), acquired 51 percent of AMG shares, and AMG was renamed to Mercedes-AMG GmbH. On 1 January 2005 Aufrecht sold his remaining shares to DaimlerChrysler, and since then it has been a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Rolls Royce only use A-grade leather from bulls, ensuring the upholstery has no unsightly scars or stretch marks. They use up to eleven hides for each interior.
The leather is specially drum-dyed to let the colour permeate right through so if you accidentally scratch the leather, the colour remains consistent.

Holograms are formed by the improper use of a high speed rotary polisher, poor pad/product choice or the overall lack of polishing knowledge. Holograms are simply micro scratches instilled into your vehicle’s paint by the fixed circular rotation of a rotary polisher combined with an aggressive pad and or polish.
Rotary machine polishing takes time to break down the polish properly when you are removing swirl marks and paint defects, speed is not the answer when correcting paintwork. If you currently have holograms in your vehicle’s paint, it’s either because the person polishing your vehicle didn’t follow up with the required refining steps needed, or they simply lacked the knowledge to properly use the tool. It’s not uncommon to find body shops and dealerships constrained by the amount of time they can spend on a vehicle. Because of this, rather than taking the required time needed to go through the proper refining steps, they simply choose to apply a glaze loaded with heavy fillers. These optical fillers hide defects like swirls, scratches and holograms and usually conceal them until you’ve washed the car a couple times.
At Auto-Detail my goal is "perfect surfaces".

The BMW Z8 was in production from 2000 to 2003 and was given the E52 BMW model code.
The Z8 was the production version of the 1997, Z07 concept car, which was designed by Henrik Fisker at BMW's Designworks USA in Southern California. The Z07 was originally designed as a styling exercise intended to evoke and celebrate the 1956-'59 BMW 507. The Z07 caused a sensation at the '97 Tokyo Auto Show. The overwhelming popularity of the concept spurred BMW's decision to produce a limited production model. There were 5,703 Z8s built, approximately half of which were exported to the United States.
Max Girardo, the managing director of RM Europe when recently asked in an interview in Classic Cars magazine, 'Which modern cars are future classics?' answered 'The same factors will likely help determine future collectibles: rarity' condition, desirability. Two examples likely to hold strong collector appeal are Ford GTs and BMW Z8s'.

Rear Plastic Screen, Cleaning & Restoration
The rear plastic window in this Mercedes SL had developed a yellow cloudy tint and was covered by thousands of fine scratches, this made the rear screen very difficult to see out of, especially when the sun shone through it.
As you can see from the photographs there has been a dramatic improvement, results speak for themselves, we have found it gives a 65-90% improvement on most plastic windows, although we have had a few cars which were beyond help. Not all windows can be done, we have found that if the cloudy opaque areas have progressed too far, the improvement atchievable is not worth the money or effort, if this is the case, then it may be better to get over experienced trimmmer to replace the screen.

In 1984, Porsche introduced the M491 option. Officially called the Supersport, it was commonly known as the "Turbo-look". It was a style that resembled the Porsche 930 Turbo with wide wheel arches and the distinctive "tea tray” tail. It featured the stiffer turbo suspension and the superior turbo braking system as well as the wider turbo wheels. Sales of the Supersport were particularly strong for its first two years in the United States because the desirable 930 was not available.

Wet Sanding to Remove Scratches & Imperfections
As part of Auto-Details paint correction service we offer a technique called wet sanding. This service can help reduce the image of scratches, poor respray (dry or orange peel) finishes and etching from bird droppings on car paintwork. Sometimes we can completely remove scratches and etching with this method, other times we can only improve it, it all depends on how deep the damage is into the paintworks clearcoat of lacquer.
This kind of work requires skill, confidence and experience and is only undertaken with the customers consent as it is a sometimes risky process, but the results is often outweigh the risk, keeping the cars original factory paintwork over a respray and the associated problems including overspray and colour mis-match.

This was a major switch for Ferrari, with most previous small Ferrari's using a transverse engine with longitudinal transmission.

The world of bullfighting is a key part of Lamborghini's identity. In 1962 Ferruccio Lamborghini visited the Seville ranch of Don Eduardo Miura, a renowned breeder of Spanish fighting bulls. Lamborghini, a Taurus himself, was so impressed by the majestic Miura animals that he decided to adopt a raging bull as the emblem.
After producing two cars with alphanumeric designations, Lamborghini once again turned to the bull breeder for inspiration. Don Eduardo was filled with pride when he learned that Ferruccio had named a car after his family and their line of bulls; the fourth Miura to be produced was unveiled to him at his ranch in Seville. The Spanish word Gallardo (Spanish pronunciation: [ga'yarðo]) translates into "gallant" and from Italian into "striking".

The Porsche 996 is the company's internal name for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. At its debut, it featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction. The most important among these is the fully water-cooled engine, replacing the previously air-cooled engines. More stringent noise regulations and higher customer expectations for both refinement and a higher performance 4 valve per cylinder engine made the switch necessary

1 of only 7 known survivors
It is believed that only 20 Club Sport GT2s were made by Porsche and as most were converted to race cars only around 7 are now known to still exist. The rarity of this car has shown an increase in value and desirability matching the famed 1973 Carrera RS.
It is the ultimate version of the 993, with 2 rear wheel drive, a bi-turbo engine pushed to 430 HP, the Club Sport only weights 1250 Kg, 100 Kg less than the comfort version. An extremely fast package. The Club Sport was actually delivered in a specification very closed to the GT2 race cars, but legal on open roads.
This GT2 is the only one in existence painted Blut Orange.

In 1992 Porsche produced a super-lightweight, rear-wheel-drive only version of the 964 dubbed Carrera RS for the European market. It was based on Porsche's 911 "Carrera Cup" race car and harkened back to the 2.7 and 3.0 RS and RSR models. It featured a revised version of the standard engine, titled M64/03 internally, with an increased power output of 260 bhp and lightweight flywheel coupled to the G50/10 transmission with closer ratios, asymmetrical Limited Slip Differential and steel syncromesh. A track-oriented suspension system with 40 mm lower ride height, stiffer springs, shocks and adjustable stabilizer bars without power steering (RHD UK cars did have power steering). A stripped-out interior devoid of power windows or seats, rear seats, air conditioning, cruise control, sound deadening or a stereo system (optionally fitted) and new racing bucket front seats were part of the package. The decklid was made of aluminum, the chassis was seam welded and sound deadening was deleted. Wheels were made of magnesium and the glass was thinner in the doors and rear window.

The Capri 2.8 Injection was the first offering of the new Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) operation that had recently been set up in Dunton, Essex. The "Cologne" 2.8 engine had previously been offered in the Capri in America, but as a normally aspirated unit. SVE added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator.
The brakes were upgraded to 9.76in ventilated discs and the suspension was upgraded. Power steering, 7x13 inch alloy wheels, Recaro seats, a push button stereo and sunroof completed the package for the most luxurious Capri yet.
In September 1984 the 2.8i received a small facelift with seven spoke RS alloy wheels, half leather interior, body coloured door mirrors, grille and headlamp surrounds, it was the 2.8 injection special. Mechanically the only improvement was the addition of a limited slip differential rear axle. Unusually for Ford the optional extras were few, all you could add was metallic paint, and a two tone colour scheme.

On 26th April 1998 the Arnage was unveiled to the public at the Sarthe Circuit in France. Bentley Motors Ltd couldn't have chosen a more appropriate location. This was the racecourse which had seen Bentleys finishing first in the famous "24 Hours of Le Mans" no less than five times during their glorious past. The renaissance of Bentley as an independent marque had started with the Bentley Mulsanne – a name taken from the Le Mans race circuit. The Bentley Arnage took its name from the challenging bend at the famous track.
The car initially appalled old-school Bentley purists by ditching the traditional 6750cc V8 engine and instead opting for a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 engine from BMW. the company that delivered the near-implosion of the Rover Group was powering not only the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph, but the Bentley Arnage too. Truth be told, the BMW engine fitted to the Bentley was an excellent unit, delivering huge amounts of torque and power. It just didn’t rest easily with Bentley aficionados.
This was rectified in September 1999, when the Volkswagen Group, Bentley’s parent company, backtracked and offered the monster Rolls-Royce 6.8-litre V8 in a new version of the Arnage. The BMW-powered car was designated the Green Label, whilst the ‘proper’ Rolls-Royce engined model was titled the Red Label.

The Murciélago LP640 was introduced in 2001 for the 2002 model year as the successor to the famed Diablo supercar and was the automaker's first new design in eleven years, as well as the first under the ownership of Audi. It was styled by Peruvian-born Belgian Luc Donckerwolke, Lamborghini's head of design from 1998 to 2005.
In a continuation of Lamborghini's tradition of giving its cars names from the world of bullfighting, the Murciélago was named after a fighting bull that survived 28 sword strokes in an 1879 fight against Rafael "El Lagartijo" Molina Sanchez, at the Coso de los califas bullring in Córdoba, Spain. Murciélago fought with such passion and spirit that the matador chose to spare its life, a rare honor. The bull, which came from Joaquin del Val di Navarra's farm, was later presented as a gift to Don Antonio Miura, a noted local breeder; thus began the famed Miura line of fighting bulls, which provided the name for one of Lamborghini's first great cars.
Murciélago is the Spanish name for a flying bat.

The exterior remains faithful to the marine-nautical theme of the prototype RR 100EX. The two-door four-seat convertible features rearward opening suicide doors and a two-tone colour scheme that delineates between the upper and lower bodywork and frames the teak wood panelling of the convertible's tonneau cover. All in all, the car continues Rolls-Royce's current design theme, premiered on the Phantom, combining features of luxuriant 1930s Art Deco with cold 21st century "techno-modern".

The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the "Audi Space Frame", and uses an aluminium monocoque which is built around a space frame. The car is built by Quattro GmbH in a newly renovated factory at Audi's 'aluminium site' at Neckarsulm (which I think maybe the old NSU factory) in Germany.

The Porsche 911 GT3 was introduced in 1999 as a high performance version of the first water-cooled version of the Porsche 911, the 996, to continue the quarter-century tradition of low-weight RS (short for "Rennsport" in German) models that ended with the 993 RS. The GT3, named after the FIA GT class it was intended for, did not use the rather simple engine of the regular production versions of the 996, but a naturally-aspirated version of the turbocharged Porsche 962 and Porsche 911 GT1 race cars. Later, the turbo-charged Porsche 911 GT2 was added to the maker's lineup, but unlike its predecessor 993 GT2, did not fit into GT racing regulations. The racing versions of the GT3 have won several major 24h races outright, and mainly dominated their class at Le Mans. The 911 GT3 competes with the BMW M3 GTR and the Ferrari F430 GT2.

The 360M may have been the 'junior' car in Ferrari’s range when it was launched in 1999, but that doesn't hold it back from being one of the best cars in the modern era of the company. The 360 is easier and cheaper to service than previous mid-engined Ferraris, and it brought new levels of build quality and the widespread use of aluminium in the construction of the body and chassis. The 360 also introduced the optional F1 gearbox that does away with the clutch pedal and uses paddles behind the steering wheel in place of a gear lever. This gearbox was a feature of the Challenge Stradale version that traded comfort for lightweight and increased performance. It also gained a further 25bhp.

Undeniably pretty, and with a mid-mounted V6 in an alloy body, but two litres weren’t quite enough for Ferrari’s move into a more volume market and only around 150 206 GTs were built before it was replaced by the real deal 246 GT. OK, these were built in steel, with an iron rather than alloy engine block, but the four-cam 2.4-litre V6 would take it all the way to 150mph. The public snapped them up and they continue to feature on many an enthusiast’s wish list. Estimates vary, but between 1868 and 2609 were built.

The Bentley Azure debuted for 1995 on the platform of the Continental R model, which had been launched in 1991. At 210 inches in length and 5,750 pounds in weight, the Azure often surprised onlookers with its size and bulk, intended to both convey a sense of "presence" and allow for comfortable seating of four adult passengers.
Power came from the company's stalwart 6.75 Liter V8, featuring a single, intercooled Garrett turbocharger and producing 400 horsepower and 645 ft/lb of torque; power was routed to the rear wheels via a modified, General Motors 4sp auto transmission. With a 0 to 60 time of 6.1 seconds, the Azure was very fast for a car of its size, weight and poor aerodynamic profile.
Owing to the limited space and workforce at Bentley's Crewe factory, the Azure's thick, powered convertible top was designed and manufactured by Pininfarina.
According to 2009 research by internet company Yahoo, the Azure was at the time the forth most fuel consuming car on sale in the United Kingdom.

In 1984 Honda commissioned the Italian car designer Pininfarina to design the HP-X (Honda Pininfarina Xperimental), which had a mid-mounted 2.0 L V6 configuration. After Honda decided to actively pursue the project, the HP-X concept car evolved into the NS-X (New Sportscar eXperimental) prototype. Brazilian Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna, for whom Honda themselves had powered all three of his world championship winning Formula One race cars before his death in 1994, was considered Honda's main innovator in convincing the company to stiffen the NSX chassis further after testing the car at Honda's Suzuka GP circuit in Japan. The Honda NSX went on sale in Japan in 1990.

Launched in September 1994, the 355 was a huge step forward for Ferrari. At about £83,000 it cost barely more than the outgoing 348 model but was quicker, more powerful and better looking.
Under the skin the 355 had an all new monocoque, which made it stronger and more rigid. Power came from a larger 3.5 litre V8 engine with, for the first time in a production Ferrari, five valves per cylinder. With 375bhp and a kerb weight of just 2,846lb, the performance was blistering: 0-60mph in just 4.6sec and on to 100mph in 10.8sec.

The iconic grille and Spirit of Ecstasy mascot are obvious identifiers, but there are numerous more subtle elements that have an equally powerful effect. The coach doors and striking use of chrome. The gentle, upswept line of the sill - known internally as the 'waftability' line – that creates a powerful, poised stance and makes the car appear to be moving when stationary.
With closer inspection, other themes emerge. A long wheelbase is crucial to achieve the classic Rolls-Royce look, as is a long bonnet, but while the front should be bold and upright with a short overhang, the rear needs to be softer, with the roofline blending into a wide 'C' pillar (the rearmost of the car's vertical roof support posts), to give a flowing appearance. Large wheels add an essential sense of proportion: the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars rule of thumb being the diameter of the wheel and tyre is roughly half the height of the car.
'Our absolute priority, explains Cameron, was to create a motor car that is clearly a Rolls-Royce even when the radiator grille is not in view.'

Beirut, the Lebanese capital, has been the setting for some of the most moving and tragic stories of modern times. Who could easily forget seeing news footage of much of this once peaceful country reduced virtually to rubble by a vicious 15-year civil war? And yet still this remarkable place seems to tug at our heartstrings. In mid-2006, a decade and a half after the end of that appalling war, the world was forced to witness the seemingly wanton destruction wrought on a then slowly recovering nation by a vengeful Israel, in retaliation for what it claimed at the time were Syrian-backed Hezbollah rocket attacks launched from within Lebanon's borders. And as recently as mid-2007 came - albeit on a rather smaller but no less poignant scale - the frankly incredible tale of the discovery of this long buried ex rallying 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 ‘Lightweight'.

The Bentley Arnage was built from 1998 to March 2009. The Arnage and its Rolls-Royce-branded sibling, the Silver Seraph, were introduced in the Spring of 1998 and were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980.
Another break from the past was to be found under the bonnet, for decades home to the same 6.75 litre V8 engine, a powerplant which could trace its roots back to the 1950s. The new Arnage was to be powered by a BMW V8 engine, with Cosworth engineered twin-turbo installation and the Seraph was to employ a BMW V12 engine.
The Arnage is over 5 metres long, 1.9 metre wide, and has a kerb weight of more than 2.5 tonnes. For a brief period it was the most powerful and fastest four-door saloon on the market.

Damaged by untrained valeters
Auto-Detail Research:
The stainless steel used on the RR Phantom Drophead is produced not by the RR factory but by a series of subcontractors. The steel is produced by Arcelor Mittal in France, one of the only steel plants able to make steel 2 meters wide by 0.8 mm thick. The steel is then transported to Nitto where it is formed into covers for the bonnet, grille and A-pillar/windscreen surround. The stainless steel (type 18-9E Austenital Steel) used has a low chromium content as high chromium content stainless steel is less formable and tends to crack and split upon pressing. The downside of having a low chromium content is that the steel is more vulnerable to corrosion. The steel now requires protection and is sent to one of two factories, here the steel is treated with nitric acid and a sodium dichromate solution, this process is called Passivation and creates a monomolecular oxide film protecting the stainless steel. Although now passivated for protection the protective film is very thin only 1/100,000 the thickness of a human hair and is easily damaged, leaving the bare steel unprotected and open to attack. The chemicals used by the valeters on this Rolls Royce has removed the passivate (protective oxide film). Although I can rebrush and repair the steel back to a near perfect finish I cannot re-passivate it for protection and the steel would continue to corrode and stain. The only long term solution at present was to replace these panels at great expense to the customer. Please note that, that as far as we at AutoDetail are aware Rolls Royce's own stainless steel cleaner (a product made for BMW cars) has never been tested for cleaning these panels. Specialist cars require specialist care.

The last of the air cooled 911's, fast becoming a modern classic.
One of the most noteworthy changes in the 993 over all preceding 911s is the implementation of an all-alloy multi-arm rear suspension attached to an all-alloy subframe. Its design was derived from the project 989, a four-door sedan which never went into production. It required the widening of the rear wheel arches, which itself lent to the 993's new-found stability. This suspension improved the 993s cornering abilities, making it more direct, stable and helping to reduce the infamous tendency to oversteer if throttle was lifted during hard cornering, a trait of earlier 911s.
The 993 was the first generation of 911s to have a standard 6-speed manual transmission, except for the exotic Porsche 959. As the 993 was capable of speeds exceeding 168 mph, a sixth gear became necessary in order to adequately cover the whole speed range.

The latest incarnation of the 911 Turbo, finished in rare Carmine red.The 997 Turbo debuted in February 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show.
The engine is reported to be based on the rugged and very reliable 964/GT1 design at 3.6 L with power output at 473 bhp. The turbochargers will include BorgWarner's new Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG), which uses guide vanes located in front of the turbine wheel that modulates inflow angle and speed. The 911 Turbo is the first petrol production car to feature variable geometry turbines (previously only available to diesel engined vehicles), however a similar approach was used successfully by Garrett Systems starting in 1989 with the Shelby CSX that utilized a computer controlled variable nozzles instead. When equipped with the optional Sport Chrono package, the 911 Turbo gains the ability to overboost for 10 seconds, increasing peak torque over a narrow rev range.
According to official Porsche figures, it produces 480 bhp, accelerates 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds with the manual transmission, and a has 0-62 mph time of just 3.4 seconds with the automatic Tiptronic S transmission, which is more than enough to edge out its current rival from Ferrari, the F430. It has also recorded a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds at the hands of US motoring publication Motor Trend—eclipsing all of its major competitors and even Porsche's own Carrera GT supercar. The 997 Turbo has a top speed of 193 mph.

Dino named in honor of Enzo's late son Alfredo 'Dino' Ferrari. This Dino first owner was rock legend Rodger Daltrey of 'The Who', Daltrey brought the car in 1973, a milestone year for 'The Who' with the release of the album 'Quadrophenia'. This Dino is currently for sale, please call for more information. The Dino brand ( 1968-1976 ) was meant to be used for cars with engines that had fewer than 12 cylinders, reserving the Ferrari name for the V-12 and flat 12 models. The Dino brand was an attempt by Ferrari to produce a relatively low cost sports car by using components from other vehicles.
The Dino models used Ferrari racing naming designation of displacement and cylinder count with two digits for the size of the engine and the third digit to represent the number of cylinders, i.e., 246 being a 2.4 liter 6 cylinder and 308 being a 3.0 liter 8 cylinder.
In 2004, Sports Car International placed the car at number six on its list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s. Motor Trend Classic placed the 206/246 at number seven in their list of the 10 "Greatest Ferraris of all time".

Even new Ferraris often need detailing to remove bonded transportation contaminates and to correct the work of the valeters who prepared the car for delivery. This 599 finished in Grigio Silverstone was clayed to remove harmful bonded contaminates. To assess the degree of contamination on your own cars paintwork simply rub your fingers gently over the freshly washed paint, to magnify the sensation place a piece of cellophane or a thin plastic bag beneath your finger tips and gently rub you fingers across the paintwork, if there is contamination this will be felt as a gritty texture. The clay bar will remove this texture leaving a glass smooth, ultra clean finish, This contamination cannot be removed through washing or polishing. We then lightly machine polished to remove minor swirls and holograms. The treatment was finished with two protective layers of wax. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is Ferrari's 2-seat Gran Turismo flagship model, replacing the 575M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model. The 599 GTB debuted at the Geneva Motor Show on February 28, 2006. Styling of the 599 GTB was handled by Pininfarina, under the direction of Ferrari stylist, Frank Stephenson. It is named for its total engine displacement (5999 cc), Gran Turismo Berlinetta nature, and the Fiorano Circuit test track used by Ferrari.

Remade by skilled metal craftsman, this DB4 front end was lovingly recreated as part of a customers restoration program. Please call us with your requirements, our ex Aston-Martin panel beater will be happy to assist you. The DB4 was sold from 1958 through to 1963. It was an entirely different car from the DB Mark III it replaced.
The 3.7 L engine, designed by Tadek Marek, was a dual overhead cam straight-6. It was prone to overheating at first, but the 240 hp produced by the twin-SU carburettor version made buyers forgive this unfortunate trait.
The lightweight superleggera (tube-frame) body was designed by Carrozzeria Touring in Milan, and its Continental looks caused a sensation on its unveiling at the 1958 London Motor Show. Although the design and construction techniques were Italian, the DB4 was the first Aston to be built at the company's Newport Pagnell works in Buckinghamshire, England.

Launched in the U.K in 2008, Auto-Detail were lucky to be one of the first to see the new coupe in May '07 when we visited the Audi factory in Germany as part of our companies ongoing research & development program. The origins of Audi the company traces its origins back to 1899 and August Horch (pronounced 'Hoik'). The first Horch automobile was produced in 1901 in Zwickau. In 1909, Horch was forced out of the company he had founded. He then started a new company in Zwickau but continued using the Horch brand. His former partners sued him for trademark infringement and a German court determined that the Horch brand belonged to his former company. August Horch was forced to refrain from using his own family name in his new car business. Horch immediately called a meeting at the apartment of Franz Fikentscher to come up with a new name for his company. During this meeting Franz's son was quietly studying Latin in a corner of the room. Several times he looked like he was on the verge of saying something but would just swallow his words and continue working, until he finally blurted out, "Father – audiatur et altera pars... wouldn't it be a good idea to call it Audi instead of Horch?". "Horch!" in German means "Hark!" or "listen", which is "Audi" in Latin. This is just one of many stories of how Audi got its name.

One major difference between the V8 in the 348 and that in the F355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 L, is that the F355 features a 5-valve per cylinder head and that it is considerably more powerful.
At launch, two models were available: the coupe Berlinetta, and the rarer targa topped GTS. The Spider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. In 1998 the Formula One style paddle gear shift semi-automatic transmission was introduced with the Ferrari 355 F1

Application of Cannonball and sponsorship decals by Auto-Detail for a supercar display in London's Carnaby Street and then on to compete in the now infamous Cannonball run. This Ferrari was fitted with a Parrot handsfree kit kindly donated by AI Audio. The rare SuperAmerica finished in N.A.R.T blue (the official colour of and named after Ferrari,s North America Racing Team)is 1 of only 17 RHD cars produced and won 'Kings of Cannonball' driven by Fiona James. The Ferrari 575 M Superamerica was an innovative convertible version of the 575 M Maranello; it featured an electrochromic glass panel roof which rotated 180° (both are production car firsts) at the rear to lay flat over the boot. The Superamerica used the higher-output tune of the V-12 engine, rated at 540 bhp and Ferrari marketed it as the world's fastest convertible, with a top speed of 199 mph. The GTC handling package was optional.
A total of 559 Superamericas were built; this awkward number followed Enzo Ferrari's philosophy that there should always be one fewer car available than what the market is demanding. FOR SALE £poa
