Welcome to Auto-Detail

Detailing and Paint Correction is the process of enhancing the painted surfaces of a vehicle (Our detailing and paint protection system can also be applied to helicopters, planes and boats) to the highest standard removing bonded contaminates, swirl marks, holograms and light scratches to achieve a mirror-like, wet-look finish, then protecting the freshly re-levelled surface with a layer of finest natural carnauba wax. Detailing enhances the paintwork, Paint Correction removes the imperfections.

DaytonaOur customers chose our services for a variety of reasons; to obtain the best possible mirror finish, to protect the delicate paintwork, or to achieve the highest resale value or enter shows. Paint Correction is often seen as an excellent alternative to an expensive respray with the accociated problems of colour mis-match and overspray, which can also devalue a vehicle by decreasing its originality.

There are no quick, simple solutions or products to achieve these results, paint correction is a slow, labour intensive process only undertaken by our most experienced machine polishers; but with an outstanding gallery proudly displaying some of the worlds finest cars, it's time well spent.

SWIRL MARKS

These are fine circular scratches often referred to as Spider or Cob Webs. These are usually seen in direct sunlight where the swirls will appear around the reflection of the sun or other bright light source. Swirl marks are mainly caused during the washing or polishing process. Automatic car washes flail your vehicle using harsh star shaped nylon thread brushes, which scarify the surface. Traditional hand car washing is safer but the equipment used is often unclean, dirty sponges and bucket causing damage to the delicate finish. The same can be said for hand polishing, using dirty or rough cloth. Previously unseen swirls marks often appear after the first wash of a new car, this is due to the dealership using a polish containing optical fillers, thus temporary hiding the swirls from view.

FINE SCRATCHES and ACID ETCHING

Both of these common problems and can often be removed from the paintwork via careful rotary polishing and the use of a Paint Thicknes Gauge to check the Microns of lacquer that are being removed from the surface. In more extreme cases of acid etching (usually caused by the nitrate in bird droppings) the surface must be re-levelled by wet sanding the lacquer, then repolishing to remove the imperfection. Deeper/wider scratches that you can feel with your finger nail will not being able to be removed by polishing, as the scratch has broken through the clearcoat lacquer and will involve a different process of filling the scratch with paint, wet sanding then re-polishing.

HOLOGRAMS

These are often seen floating as ghost-like 3D images across the surface of the paintwork and are commonly caused by an inexperienced rotary machine operator. These holograms can be removed with careful re-polishing using a fine diminishing abrasive.
